Charles B. Winick, Psy.D. has a professional career involving both clinical work and forensic work.

In his clinical work, Dr. Winick helps children, adolescents, and adults achieve their true potential and gain greater satisfaction from their lives. He offers psychological evaluations and psychotherapy as a means to assess and treat individuals. Dr. Winick works with children diagnosed with problems such as Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Oppositonal Defiant Disorder, Eating Disorders, Depression, and Anxiety. He also treats adults with Alcohol and Substance abuse problems, Anxiety, Phobias, inability to control anger, and Depression. His clinical practice specializes in, but is not limited to, psychological evaluation and psychotherapy with children with school-related problems.

Dr. Charles Winick is affiliated with The Psych Team. The Psych Team is a multi-disciplinary mental health practice. The Psych Team was formed in 1990 and has developed an excellent reputation in the community. Dr. Winick has a mutual referral relationship with the other mental health practitioners of The Psych Team. Thus, if Dr. Winick is unable to see a person for any reason, he will refer the person to a skilled Psych Team clinician. Also, on occasion, Dr. Winick may refer the family member(s) of a current patient to another clinician. Dr. Winick's affiliation with The Psych Team enables close communication between the clinicians who are working together to help the same family.

In his forensic work, Dr. Winick conducts forensic psychological evaluations geared toward answering legal questions focusing on whether an individual has some type of impairment. His evaluations are conducted within the context of the relevant legal statutes which allows the court to easily apply the conclusions to legal decision-making. Dr. Winick completes competency to proceed evaluations, child custody evaluations, termination of parental rights evaluations, mental state at the time of the offense evaluations, and assessment of treatment needs. His forensic work specializes in, but is not limited to, violence risk assessment.

Dr. Charles B. Winick received his Bachelors of Science in Clinical Psychology at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his Masters and Doctoral Degrees at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. While at Nova, he assisted teaching Psychological Testing and Report Writing at the doctoral level. Dr. Winick joined the American Psychological Association as a student affiliate and is currently a member of the American Psychological Association, APA Division 41 (American Psychology - Law Society), the Florida Psychological Association, and the Broward County Psychological Association. .

Dr. Winick has been practicing in the south Florida area since 1991. In addition to his clinical and forensic work, he has an adjunct faculty appointment at Nova Southeastern University. In the past, Dr. Winick had an adjunct faculty appointment at Broward Community College where he taught psychology classes to undergraduates. Dr. Winick is the author of a book chapter on risk assessment in domestic violence cases and a journal article about conducting play therapy with an autistic child. Dr. Winick has made psychology presentations, related to his work, in both the United States and Europe.
